Listed below are many opportunities available for volunteering with the Harrison Instrumental Boosters. Your assistance is greatly appreciated for the many events we provide for our students. Many of these events require minimal time commitments. These are great opportunities to meet other parents and students in the instrumental program at Harrison.

Please feel free to call any of the Instrumental Booster Officers with any questions, concerns or ideas!

ABSOLUTELY NO SKILLS ARE REQUIRED EXCEPT A LOVE FOR THIS EXCEPTIONAL INSTRUMENTAL PROGRAM!!!

BAND CAMP

  • Activities
  • Lunch monitors
  • Medical on-call
  • Camp Set-up 4-5 volunteers

Telephone Committee
Need 10 people to call approximately 10 families each, as needed.

Restaurant Nights Fundraiser
Set up one night per month to eat out to earn % of total sales. (July through May skipping November through January) Make sure we get our proceeds.

Photo Buttons
Arrange for students pictures to be taken before the second home football game. Develop prints. Cut out photos. Make Buttons. Make sure $$ is collected.

Chaperones
(Marching Chairman)(Orchestra / Concert Band Chairman) - Chaperones are needed for marching season and concert season for bus trips. A list will compiled for chaperones for the marching season. Chaperones are also needed for the trips the orchestra takes in November and for the ISSMA trips in May for concert band and orchestra.

Bake Sales Fundraiser
Call for donations for bake sales at schools the 2nd Thursday of Nov, Jan, Feb, Mar, Apr. Arrange for 2 to 3 sellers for each bake sale. Contact school for the availability of a space/table. Volunteers are needed to bake items for the bake sales.

Hoagie Sales Fundraiser
Gather orders for Hoagies. Help get items needed to make Hoagies. Make sure money is collected.

Raffle Fundraiser
Need one Band chairman and one Orchestra chairman. Obtain date for raffle from the President or Director. Make Raffle tickets. Gather tickets. Make arrangements for raffle drawing.


Blacktop Sale Fundraiser
Held on the first Saturday in April. Gather donated items to be stored in the band trailer. Mark items. Set up and take down. Work sale. Arrange for items to be discarded with Goodwill.

Car Wash Fundraiser
Have 2 car washes per year. Obtain a location for car wash (Fazoli's). Notify students. Gather car wash items. Make arrangements for workers at car wash using the phone committee. Clean up and wash dirty towels.

Sell fund raising items at Football and Basketball Games.

Thorntons Gas Cards Fundraiser
Obtain Gas Cards. Promote and distribute gas cards.

Uniform Committee
Measure students for marching uniforms and polo/show shirts (July). Sort, re-hang, clean between dry cleanings, and organize uniforms.

Guard Uniforms
Over see the fitting and ordering of the uniforms and flags.

Show shirts, Polo Shirts and Booster store
Work with the uniform commettee and place orders.

Yankee Candle/Cookie Dough Fundraiser
Plan date for fundraiser. Distribute flyers. Gather $$ from everyone. Distribute items to students. Need one Band chairman and one Orchestra chairman.

Bus/Truck Transportation
Obtain dates buses are needed from Mr. Gumula or Booster President. Call bus driver or school corp. transportation dept. Arrange for truck rental for competitions through Ryder. Collect $$ if needed.

CDL Driver
A driver is needed during marching season to drive the tractor that pulls the music trailer. Friday football games and Saturdays competitions. This driver must have a CDL license.

Dresses/Tuxedo Committee
Measure students(September). Order Dresses/Tuxes. Distribute. Set up resale system at end of year.

Coordinate the show shirts, polo shirts and Booster store.

Senior Events and End of Marching Season Celebration
Arrange for senior pictures at Senior Night football game. Arrange for activates at end of marching season celebration before district contest.

Pit Crew for Marching Band
Load instruments into truck. Take instruments onto field at competitions/games. Perform maintenance on marching equipment/trailer as needed. Need of minimum 8 to 10 workers at each contest/football game. Field pit coordinator / Trailer coordinator

Hospitality
Coordinate food during competitions for marching band. Call parents for donations. Set up a light meal at competitions. Coordinate refreshments at school concerts(Need both Band & Orchestra volunteers for concerts) (December and April) throughout year, if needed.

Year End Banquet
Obtain permission to have banquet from school administration/office. Send out notices for banquet. Collect $$. Arrange caterer. Decorate tables. Set up and clean up.


Fall Festival Chairman
Coordinate all committees for the Fall Festival.

Fall Festival Workers
The Instrumental Boosters have a food booth at the annual West Side Nut Club Fall Festival. All parents will be called to help work in the booth. This is the largest fundraiser the boosters have and everyone's help is greatly appreciated during this week.

Fall Festival Puppy Chow Committee
This is a snack we sell at the booth. It is the biggest seller we have and it is what our booth is known for. Several months before fall festival, request materials for Puppy Chow (Buy-Low)etc. We have been fortunate to have these materials donated in the past. Arrange a date to make Puppy Chow in a commercial kitchen. Inform students and parents of date.

Fall Festival Misc Food Committee

Fall Festival Paper Goods Committee
The Fall Festival booth needs to be stocked with napkins, cups, utensils, bowls, containers, garbage sacks, etc. Determine what supplies we have and what is needed. Also, help clean out the booth in order to prepare it for the Fall Festival (early September) and clean booth up when returned to storage.

Fall Festival Booth Set Up and Take Down Committee
We must take the booth to Franklin Street on Sunday morning between 7:30 am and 10:00 am. Booth must be taken down by 9:00 am on the Sunday after the Fall Festival.

Publicity Chairman

  1. Communicate the Instrumental Music Students activities for posting in Harrison's daily bulletin and for posting on the school sign located at the Lloyd. (All listings must be approved by the Instrumental Director)
  2. During marching season coordinate the parent caravans. At the competitions meet other Booster groups and promote Harrison Boosters.
  3. Coordinate or make posters promoting the activities of the Instrumental students.
  4. Coordinate the Holiday student Buy-Low Free help day. (Vann Ave and Morgan locations)
  5. Maintain a list of company sponsors and see that they are properly recognized for their donations.
  6. Develop a program promoting the Boosters and the sponsors that is given out at the Spring and Fall concerts. Set up a greeting area during the concerts to answer questions and promote the Boosters.
  7. Be available to the Booster President, Instrumental Director for any promotions and also be available to all committees for their advertising needs.
